How we treat each other

Community Guidelines

Last updated September 29, 2026

WatchMe only works if people use the service honestly and respect the people they meet. These guidelines are the short version of our Terms of Service — the behaviors we enforce and how the current restriction system works.

Verification comes before matching

Before an account or paid guest can match or video chat, it must pass ID and liveness verification through Stripe Identity — a document scan plus a selfie match on Stripe's hosted verification flow. WatchMe receives the verification result, not the ID document or selfie itself. Verification reduces anonymity and helps enforce who can use WatchMe, but it is not a guarantee of anyone's future behavior.

Be who you say you are

Pick the gender category that's actually you when you sign up. Misrepresenting it to access a matching category you don't belong in is treated as catfishing and is a qualifying report category. Qualifying reports can contribute to a doghouse restriction, and serious or repeated violations may also lead to suspension or termination.

Reporting

Every call and profile has a way to report. Reports fall into three categories: "It's a guy" (identity/gender misrepresentation), "Minor Activity", and "Other". Every report needs a short description. "It's a guy" is the qualifying category: three qualifying report strikes currently place an account in the doghouse automatically. A "Minor Activity" report blocks that pair from matching each other again and alerts the owner. "Other" reports are still recorded but do not, by themselves, add an automatic doghouse strike.

An automatic restriction is the first platform consequence; it is not a promise that a human has already reviewed the allegation. Reports and any valid captured evidence are retained for WatchMe's owner, the sole moderator. Evidence is not attached to alert emails or forwarded to a moderation vendor.

The doghouse

A doghoused account has restricted matching and messaging behavior. The account can pay to lift the restriction: the first paid lift is $1, the second is $2, the third is $3, and each later paid lift rises by another $1. Paying does not erase report records or prevent later action. Repeat restrictions may remain visible in the owner's internal moderation record.

Video and photos are yours to control

WatchMe's in-app screenshot or recording feature requires you to explicitly tap "Allow" for each occurrence. WatchMe cannot prevent someone from using operating-system tools, another device, or other external methods to capture a call. Capturing or redistributing someone without their consent violates the rules.

Serious cases

Use “Other” to describe credible threats, child sexual abuse material or exploitation, violence, or other severe conduct. “Other” does not automatically add a doghouse strike, but severe cases may result in immediate suspension or termination. Circumstances that create a legal preservation or reporting duty may be preserved and reported to the appropriate authorities as required by law.

Blocking

Blocking takes effect immediately — while blocked, an account can't match with you, message you, or see your profile. Only you, the person who made the block, can undo it later from your controls; the blocked account can never remove it. You don't need a reason, and you don't need to report someone to block them.
